gudrun has since young age loved to study and play with her native language, Icelandic, and that interest led her obviously to study runes and all kind of symbols. Having the urge to carve patterns in her clay, she soon began to carve texts in runes and symbols. The alphabet she uses is a blend of two of the five types we have of the old fuþark. Some of the texts she uses are proverbs but most of them are sentences or fragments from Icelandic songs she likes.
gudrun makes mostly discs, small murals, vases, lamps and candlesticks from ceramic clay..........and she likes rusty iron and to screw things together :)

gudrun (1967) studied ceramics at The Royal Art Academy in Antwerpen in the years of 1990-1993 and sculpture at The Royal Art Academy in Gent, 1993-1994. She has worked on and off in her atelier since 1997 and for few years you could buy her work in Gallery Fold in ReykjavÃk. She had two privat exhibitions in 1999 and 2000 and has participated in several exhibitions in Iceland and Scandinavia.
